Oh..So You’re an Influencer now?

If I had a dollar for every time I heard this in the last 2 months, I’d probably have around $30 which is not bad to be honest (you’re expecting a millionaire right? — never let them know your next move 😂)

Okay, lately I’ve been posting alot on Instagram and for some reason, everyone needs to make a comment on that! Like ffs why weren’t you commenting when I went dead silent from September till April this year? Why didn’t you praise the fact that I totally deleted all social media from 2020–2023…I’ll tell you why :)

You see when people make such comments, they are not really making them to hear the answer, as whatever rubbish I follow that question with, they just nod blandly and move on to the next topic.

So the reason why they ask, and it’s always in the same tone “ a sarcastic tone” is to take a dig at me, and while alot of these people are actually quite nice and they don’t have bad intentions, but you know its quite common for people to pick on someone who’s doing something “different”.

So are you an influencer now?

No bish I’m not! Like how on earth am I an influencer and what am I influencing? Look at the stories that I post they are just bants and jokes, or me looking like a sweaty stink bomb after a workout, like what monetarily value I can get out of such content?

The recommendations for places I make? I already do that to my friends so might as well I share it with the wider audience. And everyone who knows me knows that I love a good bargain and to source a discount in everything 😂 and I also buy and try out soooo many useless things, that if one of them turns out to be a proper invention, then why not share the knowledge with others?

As for Privilee! There’s a reason for that Dum Dum! I cannot afford their yearly plan at the moment and my subscription will expire mid October…So I’ve been tagging them alot and creating stories, so I can go create a dashboard of the metrics on DataStudio and show them “hey I may have very few following but here’s the number of views and handle clicks that I got you 😂😂”and I’ll make it look so cool that MAYBE! JUST MAYBE! They’d give me a yearly plan for free 🤷🏽‍♀️ you see I’m trying to be creative here and I’m trying to barter my nerdiness with their subscription, will it work? I don’t know! But I’d love to have Privilee for another year, so it’s worth a try.

So does the above sound like an influencer or more like a beggar? I think the latter :)

And while I didn’t need to write this silly article to justify that, but I’ve been asked enough already and its genuinely starting to bother me now, because like the intention behind it, is just to be sarcastic, so I think I had enough, its not funny anymore.

And to put your mind at ease, I hate being an influencer but I love content creation and that is a completelyyyy different world, I love really well thought of content, I love travel reels that people put efforts to, I love cinematic story telling, so yes I love content creation and I will learn how to shoot, edit and produce mindblowing kind of cinematic content and I will become a content creator.

But what I do now, is not content creation, I don’t have time for that passion yet — so this now is just me wasting my time because I feel like it, but will I feel like it tomorrow? Who knows :)

So that’s that about this silly topic, but in general can we just start being kinder to each other? Like if you see someone doing something, if you have something nice to say then say it, but if you don’t — then spare us your two cents.

Don’t go pick on someone just because they are capable of doing something that you are incapable of doing or wish that you could do!

Life is way simpler than that, no need to complicate it!

I also always get picked on because of “My British Accent” and I actually wrote this and I’m laughing because I personally don’t hear it!

And why on earth would I have a British accent when I studied my entire life in Aleppo’s public schools and my university was in Malaysia (the teachers were all asians none were Westerns) but I guess few words slip from my mouth as British because you need to understand that the time that I didn’t have social media for 3 years, it was covid lockdown and my best friend at that time was a British girl 😂

So I was exposed to that for 3 years constantly! So maybe it did rub off on me but I geniunly don’t notice it and if anything I’m not a fan of the British accent at all! Like I don’t find it sexy!

But even if I do, those who pick on my English are actually people who dream to be as comfortable as I am in English, those who pick on “oh you’re an influencer” are too insecure to put a camera in their face and talk to it, those who pick on “oh you’re now acting like someone important and you’re always busy” they know damn well that “I am” actually someone important and that I have “a life” and interests and passions and I’m always up to try things/work on things so ofcourse I’d be busy, and for you especially, I’ll always be busy love ❤️

So please lets all work with each other here:

No more sarcastic comments. No more trying to put others down. No more opinions if not asked for it. Let’s leave all of that in 2024 shall we? Because it’s lame and I’m over it and next time you say that I’ll just roll my eyes and not even bother with a response I’ll just send you the link to this article, kay? K good 🤝.
